With a soothing color palette that mimics the neutral, sandy shores of Lake Michigan’s beachfronts and a framed aerial photograph of Oak Street Beach by Terry Evans, the main bathroom provides an oasis from the day’s stresses — or blustery weather.

To avoid stark contrasts, Vern chose metals with a warm patina. The antique-style lavatory and faucet also continue the story of modern paired with vintage.

A second preserved rose bouquet contributes to the unit’s emphasis on Prairie School style and natural elements.

Ceramic subway-style mosaic tile in a walnut finish clads all three walls in the main bath and references linear tile in both the kitchen and powder room.
