We Love the 90s

While Tiger Woods was coming off an athlete’s high from his first Masters win at age 21, everyone else was tuning to the Spice Girls who were at the start of their stardom in the United States with the release of “Wannabe”. On the tech side, only the wealthy could afford a DVD player with a starting price of $500, and Dolly, the first cloned sheep, made her debut.

A Year of New Beginnings

Furby fever swept the nation. With people waiting in line for hours to pick up their alien-looking fur toy, Mark McGwire took over the baseball scene with his record-breaking home runs. Our favorite tv series Seinfeld went off the air and the beginning of a new, life-changing era hit our computers when Google launched.

Party Like It’s 1999

Gas prices were wallet-friendly, with an average price of $1.22 per gallon and in some U.S. towns as low as 95 cents. Apple Inc. was taking over consumer shelves when CEO Steve Jobs introduced the iMac in rad colors like blueberry, strawberry, tangerine, grape, and lime. On the big screen The Matrix fascinated the public with a SciFi twist on a machine takeover and on a lighter side, The Adventures of SpongeBob SquarePants captured our hearts with a lively group of adventurous friends who live under the sea.

It’s a New Millennium
