Property Brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott Update HGTV on Life Changes

Family comes first for longtime HGTV hosts, the Scott brothers, who open up to HGTV about their new season of Brother vs. Brother and their busy lives.

January 17, 2023

Drew and Jonathan Scott, two of HGTV’s OG hosts, have done it all. They’ve helped clients turn their dream homes into reality on Property Brothers: Forever Home, renovated historic houses in the Big Easy on Brothers Take New Orleans, battled it out on Brother vs. Brother and helped celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Lisa Kudrow give back to special people in their lives on Celebrity IOU. When not hosting HGTV shows, they manage several home brands, act in small roles in movies and appear in other TV programs.

So what have they been up to lately? Unsurprisingly ... everything.

Jonathan and his partner, actress Zooey Deschanel, recently hosted the annual White House Christmas 2022 in Washington, D.C. And, while in New York City on their first press tour in four years, the Scott brothers redecorated HGTV Magazine’s lobby — that is, between appearances on The Drew Barrymore Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

And through it all they’ve still made time for what started their successful careers in the first place: family.

An Update From the Bros

For Jonathan, a new home has made it a lot easier to create special memories with those closest to him. “Being able to host our family for the very first time after more than two years of renovations was exciting,” Jonathan says. “We hosted Christmas. We had Drew and Linda and their baby over; mom and dad; Zooey’s parents; her sister and nephews — it was incredible. I love the fact that we actually have some semblance of a life now.”

“And they’re not mooching off Linda and me anymore,” Drew jokingly adds.

“Yeah, Drew and Linda have put up with us long enough,” says Jonathan.

As you've probably definitely seen from his many adorable Instagram posts, Drew spends as much time as possible with his growing son, Parker.

“Over the holidays, I’ve been really trying to work on Parker’s crawling and getting him into a crawl position and getting him to strengthen his legs and arms,” Drew says. “He’s right on the verge of crawling. I’m excited to see him. In fact, I don’t even think he’s going to crawl. I think he’s going to go straight into walking.”

As for what’s next, the Property Brothers are still embracing a little bit of friendly competition with an all new season of Brother vs. Brother airings Wednesdays at 9|8c. “We really have the best jobs in the world, so it’s exciting just to keep that train rolling,” says Jonathan.
