About the House
“We are only the second owners of this house and we love it — the slate roof, the original windows, the aged brick path," says Sloan and John White of their 2,300-square-foot home. "When we repainted, we even chose similar colors, but brightened up the door.”
The yard was already well established when Sloan and John bought the house in 2014, and they’ve kept it up. Rounded boxwood lend a traditional feel, while holly shrubs — there’s a low, wide one on the far left of the house and a tall one on the far right — fill out the rest of the lawn. The combo is green year-round. And check out the gambrel roof. Its slope is a trademark of Dutch Colonial style. “We appreciate its sense of history,” says Sloan.
