Easily craft this colorful game board top to give an unused fire pit year-round functionality by turning it into an outdoor coffee table that's great for entertaining guests or family game time.
Old wooden trunks are stowed away in many attics and often end up in yard sales or thrift stores at a great price. Give one an easy update by simply adding furniture casters to make it a charming (and mobile) storage piece for your living room.
Give an old table a new look by applying a new laminate top. Start by roughing up the tables glossy finish to give the adhesive a good surface to stick to. Using contact cement, apply two coats to both surfaces. Place wood strips between the table and laminate to prevent them from making contact and adhering until you have the laminate in position, then remove each strip. Finish by trimming the laminate to fit the table's shape and use a file or sandpaper to finish the edge smooth.
Before you get rid of an old picnic table, consider refinishing it. Start by removing any old paint. You could use chemicals, but weathered paint can often be taken off by an electric sander. Many sanders have different grades of sandpaper. Start with lower grades and work your way up to a smooth finish that will make the table look like new under a fresh coat of paint.
