Cut Sweater
Using scissors, cut 1" off the sweater's bottom edge (Image 1). Cut 1/2" of "fringe" into the sweater material, using the knit pattern as your guide (Image 2). (Cut the waistband in half so you have one long piece of material to work with.)

Sew Fringe Onto Cone
Starting at the bottom of the cone, wrap the sweater fringe up towards the top of the cone (Image 1), adding a basting stitch every so often to keep it in place (Image 2). Make sure to overlap the sweater material so you can’t see the felt beneath. Secure with one last stitch, then knot and trim thread.

Add Ribbon Hanger
Cut a small section of ribbon to the desired size for hanging the ornament. Tuck the ends of the ribbon into the sweater fringe and sew in place. Tie off the base of the twig with a piece of twine for a more finished look.
