Doodle Art Frame

Transform an ordinary frame into a piece of art for Dad. Use a wood frame and sand off any protective coating — this step is very important to get your designs to stick to the wood. Have the kids lightly sketch their designs with a pencil. Then go over the sketches with permanent markers or paint pens. Let them have fun adding phrases and motifs all around the frame. If your frame has a mat, you can decorate that as well to write a letter to Dad.

#1 Dad Card + Prize Ribbon

This card is a twofer! It’s a card, but there is also a removable prize ribbon. To make the prize ribbon, cut two circles from felt fabric. Make one circle slightly larger than the other and make sure both are smaller than the card you intend to use. On the smaller circle, lightly write out #1 Dad. Older kids will have no trouble embroidering the words using a simple stitch. Younger kids might need a bit more help. Attach the embroidered circle to the larger circle. For the tails of the ribbon, cut two strips of felt with a V-shape notch in the bottoms. Glue the tails to the back side of the larger circle to complete the prize ribbon. Pin it to a card and after Dad reads the card, make sure he wears the prize ribbon all day.
