Gary Zuker had no carpentry experience when he set out to build his low-cost custom home for $10,000 using a mixture of straw and clay. Len and Alex Breuder turn an old sausage factory into a home with an industrial theme. Kathy Blondell added color to her dining room by creating her own floor cloth featuring geometric designs. Julie and Gary Miramont created a spectacular family room with fireplace, limestone arch and a connecting outdoor deck with a hand-built 14-foot Key West-style bar. Gina Allison transformed her mobile home into a Depression-era farmhouse complete with catwalk and theme rooms.
