Watch how to create a faux aged look on new tin.
In the long run, a pressed-tin backsplash is a great alternative to ceramic tile and caulk since it is not prohibitively expensive and it is much less "messy" to install.

Materials:

pressed tin sheets or tiles
construction adhesive
tin snips
small finish nails
hammer
nail set
work gloves (for protection against sharp edges of tin)

Steps:

  1. Measure the area you want to cover with the tin. It's usually wise to run the tin from the top edge of the existing counters to the underside of the cabinet.
  2. Wearing safety gloves, use tin snips to cut the tin to size.
  3. Apply construction adhesive to the back of the tin.
  4. Position the tin on the wall and press into place.
  5. Nail into place using the finish nails and a nail set to drive the nail heads into the tin.
