Victorian Home Redesign
Members of the Interior Arrangement and Design Association redesign the living room of homeowners who are avid collectors and antiquers. In addition to rearranging the large pieces of furniture, they also make more effective use of the homeowner's many beautiful accessories. They start near the fireplace and place the sofa and the loveseat at an angle to break up the boxy feel of the room. A wingback chair, an armoire, an area rug and a potted tree help to define the space. A pair of salvaged windows on either side of the fireplace expands the focal point and adds architectural interest. For a secondary seating area, they use an antique radio to create a focal point. A pair of matching floral chairs centered between the windows and an antique writing desk completes this symmetrical arrangement. Grouping the homeowners' collections together instead of scattering the items throughout the room makes a stronger statement.
