Dress up a kitchen window with an informal treatment made from pillowcases.
Accent windows quickly and easily with cafe curtains made from pillowcases and napkins.

Materials:

clothesline
wooden clothespins
cup hooks
decorative pillowcases, kitchen towels or cloth napkins

Steps:

  1. Secure two cup hooks, one on either side of the inside of the window frame. Tip: Use a hammer and nail to start a hole for the cup hook. This makes twisting it into the wood much easier.
  2. Cut clothesline to fit width of window leaving enough extra to tie knots on each end.
  3. Tie clothesline to cup hooks (or screw eyes) inside window frame and make sure that it is secured tightly. You want to have as little slack in the line as possible.
  4. Use clothespins to position your pillowcases, kitchen towels, etc. to the clothesline.

Tips and Tricks

  • Wrap the ends of the clothesline with clear tape to keep it from unraveling.
  • Paint the clothespins to match your fabrics or paint your own designs on your own fabrics.
  • Change the fabric out seasonally with decorative napkins or kitchen towels.
