Steps:
1. Mark pine wood with pencil for cutting tray pieces. Have wood cutter cut out the pieces or cut them yourself if you have a scroll saw. Assemble the tray using nails and hammer (figure A).
2. Using wood putty, fill any holes, dents or areas that didnt meet up together perfectly, and allow to completely dry.
3. Using an artist brush, apply wood sealer to the entire piece along with the wooden ball knobs. The sealer will raise the grain of the wood and help to prevent any warping of the wood. After the wood sealer has dried, completely sand the entire tray and wipe away any dust with a rag.
4. Paint and stencil the tray with desired colors and patterns (figure B).
5. Paint the wooden ball knobs with French vanilla or desired color of your choice. Allow to completely dry.
6. Apply AquaSize to the wooden ball knobs using a foam brush. Apply a thin even coat of AquaSize and allow to dry to a firm tack; this will take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours.
7. When AquaSize is at a firm tack, apply AquaCrackle White using a foam brush. After you have applied the crackle medium to the ball knobs, use a piece of cheesecloth and pounce into the crackle. Allow the completely dry.
8. Apply several coats of varnish to the tray and wooden ball knobs and allow to completely dry.
9. Attach wooden ball knobs using E6000 glue and allow to completely dry (figure C).
10. Attach the decorative handles by pre-drilling holes and screwing them into the side or top of the side areas.
