Desert masonry walls made of native stone imbedded in cast concrete, and an entry gate enclose the new garden on a ranch in west Texas. The overall transformation of the ranch property, by Ten Eyck Landscape Architects, was a 2014 American Society of Landscape Architects award winner.

Romantic Ways

A basalt rock and iron fence opens into a Portland, Ore., garden that was inspired by the homeowners' love of gardens in Charleston, S.C., and Savannah, Ga. The garden, which features perennials, roses, and shrubs, was on a 2015 tour hosted by The Garden Conservancy.
